The challenge
Appreciation Engine, founded in 2010, is an enterprise software that provides real-time customer insights and expert guidance to help businesses maximize the value of their online fan base. Their custom technology integrations and clear dashboard help global businesses create loyal fans, improve open rates, save marketing dollars, and drive revenue using their own customer data.
Its Co-Founder, Annabel Youens, has scaled businesses in the past and knows the value of a strong foundation for people management: “This is my third business, and I’ve come to learn that investing in people is actually what makes a business successful. And part of that includes automating the tedious work, so I can better focus on my team. I knew it was important to invest in a software once we started growing our team.”
As a result, Annabel started looking for solutions: "My google drive was getting out of control, and I couldn’t find anything.”
The solution
At the time, Annabel and her team were also searching for an employee benefits plan. After asking the HR community and thinking about what was important to them (cost-effectiveness, Canadian company, and room for growth), she ended up choosing Humi to manage her HR and employee benefits.

The results
Since getting onto Humi in 2018, Annabel and her team heavily rely on Humi for all things people related. “Humi is a system that can help you stop worrying about making sure all of your HR pieces get done, so you can spend time on other things like spending time with your people and growing your business.”
“Founders and HR professionals spend so much time worrying ‘Did I get all those things done? Did I get that employee to fill everything out?’ And now with Humi, I don’t need to worry about it.”
Annabel practices what she preaches when it comes to taking care of her people: “Each quarter, we roll out an initiative with the hopes of positively impacting our culture. Last quarter, we started implementing a four-day workweek for the entire team.”
Annabel and her team are loyal users of the performance, employee onboarding, documents, and time off modules. “I’ve at least saved 10 hours per employee onboarding by using Humi”.
On the customer service side of things, “Humi's service is what makes Humi stand out. You can have a great software, but when you have excellent service that goes along with that, it makes all the difference to the customer."
